    Robert King Profile

Robert King son of Hillary King was raised by Mama who happens to not be his mother. His real mother is Clara Mae. He grows up moving around from New Orleans to Donaldsonville. He starts getting into trouble in New Orleans, living with Mama, so he moves to Donaldsonville with his father. As a black man in the south the law discriminates him constantly. Using the vagrant law or simply planting evidence, Robert is in and out of prison. As his life is oppressed by the law consistently he begins to become conscience of the immorality that is occurring in the judicial system. After being sentenced to thirty years for a robbery that he didn’t commit he is fed up. While incarcerated in New Orleans Parish prison he communicates to members of the Black Panther party. He begins to fight with the Black Panther party over the injustice that occurs to African Americans.

In class, I formulated a thesis based off of the many themes found in FtBotH. Due to the moral implications within American society, the judicial system is inherently flawed.

This thesis leads me to believe that in the past, Robert King was wrongfully accused of a crime or was somehow connected to someone who was. That, or he has a strong sense of justice and seeks to fix the problems found in our legal system.

    Freewrite: Robert King Profile

Robert King is the son of Hillary and Clara Mae King. Robert was raised by his 'Mama' who happens to be his grandmother. He lived with his grandmother along with his sister and aunts and uncles. When he was a little kid, he had some fun memories with his family, memories that are still clear in his mind. He moved from places to places, from Gonzales New Orleans to Donaldsonville. He got in trouble few times while he was with his Mama so he had to move with his real father at the age of 13. They lived in the South, and being a black man as he is, alot of people discriminate him. Sadly, he was also in and out of jail and he was sentenced to be in prison for 30 years because of he was accused of robbery, which he did not commit at all. While in prison, he started talking to the members of the Black Panther party and soon allied with them to protect Black people and give justice to African Americans who were wrongly accused during this period of time.

Robert King, a man who was accused of a crime he did not commit, spent over 30 years locked up in prison. Despite being wrongfully accused, King did not give up trying to prove his innocence. Once he was released from prison, he did what he could to help the other two of the Angola 3. He did not want to take revenge, but instead, worked to seek justice for others who were in a situation such as his. One of the major themes of the book is wrongful imprisonment due to flaws within the judicial system. King is living proof of how the judicial system has failed to provide justice for people. However, he does not let that discourage him from trying to make a difference and helping those who are in situations similar to his. King remained strong through the years and never gave up hope that he would get the justice that he deserved.
