1) The DeWolfs were America’s leading slave traders
2) The fact that the DeWolfs sold slaves is not well known to those who are enamored by the DeWolfs
∴ The topic of slavery should enter the conversation when recounting the history of the DeWolf family.
1) People think the Dewolfs are special/important because of their achievements in Bristol and their level of prosperity.
2) Most people who have this opinion do not take into account the fact that the DeWolfs were the largest traders of slaves.
∴ Therefore people are enhancing the reputation of the DeWolfs without looking at all the facts.
1) The DeWolfs sold slaves.
2) The DeWolfs were devout Christians.
∴Therefore, the DeWolfs were not good Christians.
1) Slaves were kept in a dungeon beneath a church.
2) The people who were forced into slavery were baptized first.
∴ Therefore, the act of slavery was done in the name of god.
1) Slave trade was illegal during the time that DeWolfs sold slaves
2) Politicians allowed the DeWolfs to trade slaves despite the fact that it was illegal.
∴ The Dewolfs and the politicians were criminals.
1) Slave trading caused suffering and disrupted the lives of millions of Africans
2) The DeWolfs were aware of this suffering, but continued to trade slaves anyways.
∴ Therefore, the DeWolfs were unethical.This argument is according to a member of the DeWolf family while talking about his ancestors.

2) We don’t know what it was like to walk in the DeWolfs (the slave traders) shoes.
∴ Therefore, we cannot judge the DeWolf family for trading slaves.

∴ Therefore, the modern-day DeWolfs have benefited from slave trading.

2) The DeWolfs experience several mental breakdowns while trying to make amends.
∴ It is difficult to make amends for something that your ancestors did wrong.

1) Ceremonies performed of victory and remembrance.
2) Africans of many different ages gathered.
3) The Africans were happy to celebrate their freedom.
1) An African woman didn’t expect any white people to be at their ceremony.
2) Africans felt that the whites were invading their space.
3) Some Africans were racist also.
1) The white people had a feeling of guilt for something their ancestor did.
2) The whites had to learn how to not take on others shame.
3) The only way those whites could have peace was to begin with self and other whites.

1. Premise 1: Dewolf said to be very religious.
Premise 2: Dewolf traded slaves.
.•. Dewolf didn’t practiced their religion correctly.
2. Premise 1: Slavery was prohibited.
Premise 2: Dewolf practiced slavery while it was illegal.
.•. Dewolf found ways to practice it and not get caught.
3. Premise 1: There were paintings in the Dewolf family of slavery trade.
Premise 2: Women didn’t know their family practiced slavery before.
.•. Shocked to know they actually knew it.
4. Premise 1: Dewolf created a church in Gona Africa.
Premise 2: Slaves were baptized and changed their name.
